Buy organic wine at the best prices on the net, with a cast-iron money-back guarantee
Until now, if you wanted to buy organic wine, you had two choices: either try the supermarkets - where you might find one white and one red, if you're lucky - or use one of the specialist organic wine mail-order companies.
Organic wine has one great strength, but this can also become its major weakness: the organic wine standards prohibit the use of the vast range of additives which commercial wine producers routinely use (and which can lead to headaches, hangovers and allergies), so a good organic wine tastes really clean and dynamic. But an organic vineyard can't use additives to disguise a sub-standard wine, so a minority of organic wines are really dreadful!
This means that, if you use a specialist organic wine merchant, you might buy an organic wine which doesn't taste good - or which you simply don't like - and you'll be stuck with it.
What is Organic?
Organic means that no chemicals, pesticides or herbicides are used in the growing of the grapes. Only compost and organic materials are used, with indigenous vegetation for mulching. In the cellar, the maximum allowable quantity of sulphur dioxide is half that of conventional wines and certain chemicals are forbidden in organic wine.

So, at Organic Wine Online, we decided that any organic wine merchant we recommend must have a completely cast-iron and quibble-free refund policy for wines which you don't like. We carried out extensive and meticulous research for organic wine on the web, looking for the best online organic wine merchants and narrowed down our search to Virgin Wines, Oddbins and Laithwaites.
Trying out a search for organic wine on these 3 sites, Virgin Wines returned an excellent 14 organic results (about 4-5 times better than the organic wine range in most supermarkets), but Oddbins and Laithwaites returned only one each! Organic wine is now a fairly mature sector and it seemed bizarre that - 15 years after all the major supermarkets started selling organic wine - such respected names in the wine trade should consider organic wines such an unimportant part of the market.
And we felt that this didn't say much for their ability to satisfy customers' requirements in other respects.
We really liked the sensible Virgin Wines approach, not least because they have a good range of organic wine and have excellent descriptions - informative and friendly. They also have a particular policy of stocking interesting organic wines from small producers, unlike the supermarkets - who tend to demand a large quantity of a standardised product (which is actually possible, even with the - typically small - organic wine producers).
Plus, we very much liked their open, no-nonsense approach to customer satisfaction, particularly their "if you don't like our wine, you don't pay" promise. Click here

Quality
If you buy any of our wines and you don't like a bottle, we will credit your account for the full amount for that bottle. If you have bought a whole case of one particular wine, then we will refund the whole case, including delivery, as soon as we have collected the rest of the wine from you, provided of course that you have only drunk one bottle from the case. -
Price guarantee
We guarantee great value. That means that if you buy wine from us and then find the same wine for sale in the UK at a cheaper price within 14 days (but not on promotion, special offer or in a sale) we will refund the difference. -
Delivery
Delivery is £4.99 per daytime delivery and £6.99 per Saturday AM delivery (within M25 only) regardless of how many cases you order. So pack 'em in quick. We will deliver your wine to anywhere in the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Scilly Isles and the Isle of Wight), but unfortunately we are unable to deliver to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or other British Dependent Territories).
Most of our customers give us instructions to leave the wine in a safe place as this is by far the easiest way to ensure you get your wine on time. If it gets stolen, we will replace it free of charge (see below). -
Stolen Wine and Breakages
If you give instructions for us to leave your wine outside your house and the wine gets nicked, we will ship you another case free of charge, so there is no risk to you. If there are any breakages, the carrier will need to collect the complete case including the damaged contents. -
Customer satisfaction
If you are dissatisfied with our performance in any way, please contact our customer services department immediately on 0870 164 9593. At Virgin Wines, we aim to deal with all enquiries fairly, confidentially and quickly. We will acknowledge your contact within 24 hours. We try to resolve most issues immediately, but where this is not possible, we will keep you informed about progress until a satisfactory resolution has been achieved.

STOP PRESS - I recently placed my first organic wine order with them and my experience makes me even more enthusiastic about the company:
- The ordering process is exemplary - really clear and very fast.
-
After I'd paid, I was told that, because my order had come to £67.88 (actually £47.88, taking the £20 voucher into account), I was eligible to become a Premium (?Premiere) member and would receive £20 off my NEXT order, as well (voucher valid for one month)!
I don't know what the break point is for this (no info on the website) but, since the minimum order to get your £20 off was £50 (it's now £65, unfortunately), it looks like you don't have to spend much more on your organic wine to get that second discount. - Plus, as a special member, a 'wine advisor' rang me, a couple of weeks afterwards, to check whether I had liked the organic wines I'd bought and arranged an immediate refund for 3 bottles I wasn't satisfied with.
- I ordered my selection of organic wine at 8.30 on Tuesday evening and it arrived before midday on Thursday!
- And, I noticed that the initial voucher is per person/credit card so, if you're a couple, you can each take advantage of it and get £40 offf some really excellent organic wine
- And that's it - pretty brilliant, we thought!
